I left public lands in 1986 when I went full time on a private ranch.
I've leased the Stone Temple Ranch out of White Sulphur Springs ever
since. The 10,000 acre ranch, in the Castle Mountains, also has four
miles of common boundary on Forest Service land.
Camp
accommodations are 12 x 14 portable cabins, insulated and heated by
propane. They are quite comfortable and dry and provide for 3 hunters
maximum per cabin. I have a 12 x 26 portable cook cabin complete with a
full time cook providing home-style meals.
Transportation
for hunting is four wheel drive vehicles. I do keep horses in camp in
case we have to pack an elk out. This is not a horseback hunt.
Gallatin
Field in Bozeman, Montana is the nearest airport and arrangements can
be made for you to be picked up there and brought to the ranch. If you
drive you can leave your vehicle at the home ranch or if you have a
pickup, you can also drive right to camp. It is much easier and a lot
less expensive to get your game home if you drive.

Summer Fishing On the Yellowstone River
Fish for Browns, Cutthroat and Rainbow from the original McKenzie Drift Boats
$400 per day, per boat - 2 rods May thru September |

As of Jan 1 2011 there will be no more guaranteed combo licenses
through an outfitter. It was voted out fall of 2010 by the state of Montana
through initiative I 161, after being in place for 15 years. All 17000 licenses now will go into the general pool and if there are
more than 17000 applications it will go on a drawing
The combo license prior to this drawn for by hunter not hunting with
outfitters was $625. This license will increase next year to $897. I
believe we will see a large roll back in non resident licenses sold due
to the huge increase in price. I doubt it will go to a drawing, more
than likely there will be licenses left over. Antelope
season overlaps with the first 2 weeks of the General Season so you
will need to book your hunt in the first 2 hunts if you want to hunt
antelope. Antelope permits are issued by drawing and I usually draw
40-50% of hunters who apply. There is no additional charge in the price
of the hunt for antelope unless you're successful, then there is a $500
Trophy Fee. Opening week antelope hunts will be available in early October. If drawn, the cost will be $2000 for a *5 day hunt.
Refund Policy
- 50% deposit at time of booking. Personal checks accepted for
deposits. Balance due Sept 1 of year hunting. Cashiers check or money
order for balance. If license would go on a draw, and you fail to draw,
you may receive your deposit back, or defer to the next year, at current
price. If licenses would go to a draw, and you do draw a license and then fail
to come for what ever reason, deposit is non-refundable unless slot can
be refilled with another successful applicant. *The hunt is over after an antelope has been taken. |
